SUMMARY:New Mexico KidWind Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The KidWind Challeng is a hands-on wind turbine design competition that engages 4-12th grade students in STEM. Student teams bring small-scale wind turbines that they’ve designed to the Challenge where they will be tested in a wind tunnel. Top performing teams will have the chance to compete at the World KidWind Challenge in May. \nWho can participate?\nAny group of students in grades 4 to 12 is eligible to enter a team. This includes students from public and private schools\, home schoolers\, after school clubs\, 4-H clubs\, etc. Every team needs a coach who is responsible for registering and managing the team. Teams of 2-6 students seem to work best\, although teams from 1-8 are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:Build and Test Challenge:\nKidWind State Competition\n\nPenn State University Park (HUB-Robeson Center) – March 25\, 2025\n\nMore Information\n\nTeams will design and build their own blades and incorporate into a turbine system\, including a generator\, hub\, and a gearbox (see KidWind rules).\nLive presentation- Teams will present a <10 min presentation to the panel of judges on the day of competition. The presentation should document the progression of their turbine design. Teams should also include a description of their design philosophy and how the team iterated on this design or made improvements to the design to increase the performance.\n\nPlease note: This event is closed to the public. Only coaches\, chaperones\, and students on the team are able to enter the event.
