SUMMARY:New Mexico KidWind Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The KidWind Challeng is a hands-on wind turbine design competition that engages 4-12th grade students in STEM. Student teams bring small-scale wind turbines that they’ve designed to the Challenge where they will be tested in a wind tunnel. Top performing teams will have the chance to compete at the World KidWind Challenge in May. \nWho can participate?\nAny group of students in grades 4 to 12 is eligible to enter a team. This includes students from public and private schools\, home schoolers\, after school clubs\, 4-H clubs\, etc. Every team needs a coach who is responsible for registering and managing the team. Teams of 2-6 students seem to work best\, although teams from 1-8 are welcome.

SUMMARY:Klamath Falls KidWind Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Solar Home Competition \nCreate a solar powered home. A solar home is a type of structure that considers the environment\, the inhabitants\, and its functional and aesthetic design. We encourage teams to think creatively and even fantastically about their solar homes. The environment can range from outer space to the arctic\, and the inhabitants can be anything from people to butterflies! Solar homes must be smaller than 2’ x 2’ with a maximum height of 1 foot. \nWind Turbine Competition \nStudent teams will design and construct a small wind turbine that they will test in a wind tunnel (4’ x 4’ x 4’). Teams will meet with a panel of judges to present their design process and demonstrate their knowledge of clean energy. Teams also engage in a variety of instant challenges to gauge their on-the-spot teamwork and problem-solving skills. KidWind generator must be used without modifications. \nRegistration closes March 22nd\, 2026.

DESCRIPTION:The KidWind Challenge is an annual event that allows students to explore the power of wind by building and testing wind turbines and then competing against other teams in their age division (4th-5th\, 6th-8th\, or 9th-12th). Watch our 3-minute overview video to see what the competition is like. The top two winners in each age division from each regional challenge move on to compete in the statewide competition. Winning teams at the statewide KidWind Challenge are invited to the Worlds KidWind Challenge. For 2026\, we are hosting six regional challenges in Kansas.

SUMMARY:Northern Arizona Kidwind Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The KidWind Challenge is a hands-on wind turbine design competition that engages students in STEM and renewable energy. Student teams build small-scale wind turbines and bring them to the Challenge where they will be tested in a wind tunnel. Students will also present on their design process to a panel of local judges. Top performing teams will have the chance to compete at the World KidWind Challenge in May. \nWho can participate?\nAny group of students in grades 9 to 12 is eligible to enter a team. This includes students from public and private schools\, home schoolers\, after school clubs\, 4-H clubs\, etc. Every team needs a coach who is responsible for registering and managing the team. Teams of 2-6 students seem to work best\, although teams from 1-8 are welcome. \nSupport for getting to the challenge \nThis event is put on by Willow Bend\, an environmental education center in Flagstaff. If you have a class or group of students that is interested in coming to our event and need help getting started- reach out to us at info@willowbendcenter.org! We may be able to provide some materials or teach a class to get them started. \nRegistration \nPlease email info@willowbendcenter.org and we will work out the details!

SUMMARY:New Orleans KidWind Challenge
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to attend the KidWind Challenge\, a collaborative showcase celebrating our university’s partnership with KidWind and schools across Orleans Parish under the WE LEAD NOLA program. This event highlights student innovation and renewable energy education in our community. \nThe challenge is a hands-on design competition in which teams present and test their small-scale wind turbine designs that they have constructed. Students\, led by their teachers\, will build bring their prototypes  to test a mini wind tunnel. Teams will also have the opportunity to present to the judges to explain their designs and reasoning for developed of their devices. \nThe winning team will earn the chance to compete at KidWind Worlds\, where they will represent our region against teams from over 60 cities nationwide.
