SUMMARY:Spark Sessions: Renewable Energy Waste - Panels & Batteries
DESCRIPTION:Each month we will host a guest to do a deep dive into one element of renewable energy for the KidWind network. Organizers\, educators\, and students are all invited to join. \nThis month’s Spark Session will focus on Renewable Energy Waste and feature presentations from the following speakers: \nKelly Weger\, Qcells – Kelly Weger is the Senior Director of Sustainability for Qcells\, the number one solar company in the U.S. She is a Registered Architect\, LEED Accredited Professional\, Certified Energy Auditor\, and author of a planet-friendly cookbook. Prior to joining Qcells\, she spent 10 years providing sustainability consulting and training for over 200 manufacturers\, across multiple industries\, and has spent 7 years appointed to the Indiana Recycling Market Development Board. \nMaria Jensen\, Recycling Electronics for Climate Action – Maria Jensen started her career in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in the electronic waste recycling industry\, after receiving a Masters in Global Health from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and publishing research related to mercury contamination from electronic waste in International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Today she is Co-Director of Recycling Electronics for Climate Action\, an electronic waste recycling industry association and advocacy organization based in Minnesota.
