SUMMARY:Spark Sessions: Solar on Schools
DESCRIPTION:Each month we will host a guest to do a deep dive into one element of renewable energy for the KidWind network. Organizers\, educators\, and students are all invited to join. \nThis month’s Spark Session will focus on Solar on Schools and feature presentations from the following speakers: \nBob Rice\, Hamilton Southeastern Schools – Bob Rice is the Energy Management Director and Indoor Air Quality Coordinator for Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Fishers\, Indiana. He has a proven track record in the education and energy sectors with expertise in Operations Management\, Sustainability\, Energy Management/Efficiency\, Energy Policy\, and Science Education. Bob brings a unique blend of technical and educational knowledge to his work. He holds a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Secondary Science Education from Indiana University Kokomo and a Bachelor of Business with a focus on Production and Operations Management from Tri-State University. Bob’s strong background in both business and education enables him to drive impactful energy initiatives while fostering sustainability and operational efficiency in educational settings. \nKristen Keim\, Generation 180 – Kristen brings her passions and experiences as a 7th grade science teacher and nonprofit leader to work towards a vision of a more equitable\, healthier\, and sustainable K-12 school system for all. Beginning her career as a public school teacher in a disadvantaged community\, she gained an appreciation for the impact the built environment has on students. Wishing to have a larger impact on the larger K-12 system\, she began her nonprofit work at the Center for Green Schools at USGBC where she worked to communicate and provide resources on implementing whole school sustainability practices to school leaders. After four years of refining her communication and facilitation skills in the nonprofit sector\, Kristen joined Generation180 to inspire and equip school leaders in taking action on clean energy in their district. She enjoys working with passionate individuals and spending her time outdoors with her two dogs.
