Competing in the KidWind Wind Turbine Competition has been a new and exciting experience for most of us. We have just learned so much about Wind Technology and sustainable energy, and how to work together as a team with a BIG GOAL to travel to Minneapolis.
La Wai are a team of high school students who are associated with Makersmiths a volunteer run maker space in Leesburg Virginia. We are a diverse mix of students from various high schools. This is our second year participating in nationals. Last year we were Neighborhood Watts
We are the Honey Badgers! We are a team of 5th graders from Charlottesville Va competing in our first year of KidWind. Our motto is “Last test, best test!”.
The AvegHERS are a group of 6th grade girls from Charlottesville, Va. This is our second year of competing in KidWind, we worked all year to make it to nationals and we are very excited.
The Driftless Dynamos love innovating, creating, testing and learning about solar & wind energy. This is their first year competing at KidWind and they won the Wisconsin elementary solar competition. This team enjoys the creative process and the challenge that working with circuits brings.
Bering Breeze includes four students who have two or more years of experience with KidWind each. Allie went to Nationals in 2022, Kylor and Tycen attended last year. The four friends teamed up this year to try their hand in the open division. They are excited to see everyone at Worlds and try out their wind gear in Minneapolis.
