Solar Home Competition

Create a solar powered home. A solar home is a type of structure that considers the environment, the inhabitants, and its functional and aesthetic design. We encourage teams to think creatively and even fantastically about their solar homes. The environment can range from outer space to the arctic, and the inhabitants can be anything from people to butterflies! Solar homes must be smaller than 2’ x 2’ with a maximum height of 1 foot.

Wind Turbine Competition

Student teams will design and construct a small wind turbine that they will test in a wind tunnel (4’ x 4’ x 4’). Teams will meet with a panel of judges to present their design process and demonstrate their knowledge of clean energy. Teams also engage in a variety of instant challenges to gauge their on-the-spot teamwork and problem-solving skills. Kidwind generator must be used without modifications.
