KidWind STEM Workshop at Challenger Learning Center at Heartland Community College

Wednesday, September 2, 2026
9:00am - 2:00pm CDT

Join us for an immersive professional development experience where teachers design their own learning path. In the morning, choose between diving into Wind Basics with our KidWind-certified trainer and retired teacher, Tim Noonen, to build model turbines for your classroom, or joining us in space to explore what’s new in our space simulations,  now with even more to explore, from our brand-new Crop Science station to fully upgraded Navigation features and streamlined registration rosters.

After enjoying a provided Subway lunch, the afternoon offers two more exciting options: level up with Wind Advanced with Gears, learning gear ratios and gear boxes to prep your students for this year’s KidWind Challenge, or join Space Basics for teachers new to CLC and looking to incorporate missions into their classrooms. Join our staff for a hands-on deep dive into running a mission as a student and incorporating it into your curriculum.

Whether you spend the day exploring renewable energy or leading space mission simulations, the choice is yours! All participants will earn 5 CEUs, and teachers new to CLC will receive a wind turbine kit to help prepare for this year’s KidWind Challenge.

Inspire curiosity, spark innovation, and gain fresh strategies to energize your classroom. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to combine renewable energy education with the excitement of Challenger missions, all in a single day!
