12:00am - 11:59pm CDT
The Wind Energy Leadership, Education & Academic Development (WE LEAD NOLA) program, hosted by the LSU New Orleans Research & Technology Foundation in partnership with KidWind, is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 educator cohort. The program is designed to help high school STEM educators bring hands-on wind energy, turbine design, engineering, and STEM learning into their classrooms.
WE LEAD NOLA Associates receive:
  • $500 stipend for participation
  • A class set of wind turbine design, building, and testing materials
  • A budget for additional classroom materials
  • Training and ongoing support, including an in-person workshop and two virtual webinars
  • The opportunity to have students design, build, test, and compete with their own wind turbine at the Spring 2027 KidWind Challenge
The program is open to high school STEM teachers in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parishes. Selected educators must attend the in-person training workshop on October 17, 2026, and will organize and mentor at least one student team for the Spring 2027 KidWind Challenge.
