2024 KidWind Challenge in Asia

The KidWind Challenge is a hands-on design competition that engages students in STEM through the lens of wind and solar energy. Student teams design and construct small wind turbines and solar devices, which they then test and present to a panel of judges. These presentations include demonstrating their design process and showcasing their understanding of renewable energy concepts. Additionally, teams participate in various Instant Challenges to assess their teamwork and problem-solving skills on the spot.
1. Participants:

i. Elementary group: Ages 10 to 15; Participants must have been born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2014; Each team must consist of 4 members.

ii. Senior group: Ages 16 to 18; Participants must have been born between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2008; Each team must consist of 4 members.

2. Definition of the Team:Students can only participate as part of a team. A team consists of 1 coach and 4 – players. Hence, for example, 1 coach and 3 players or 5 players will not be recognized as a team.

3. Competition Date:

i. Elementary Group: November 10th, 2024 (Sunday)

ii. Senior Group: November 9th, 2024 (Saturday)

4. Competition Location: The Taoyuan Arena, Taoyuan, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

5. Registration Period: From now until 5:00 p.m. on October 31st, 2024 (Thursday)

6. Registration Fee: US$150 per team which includes a set of competition-specific generators, players’ lunch on the day of competition, engineering notebooks, and insurance.
