Bronco Wind Team KidWind Teachers Workshop

Western Michigan University is excited to bring a KidWind Educator Workshop to our Parkview Campus! The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, KidWind and the WMU Bronco Wind Team will sponsor this opportunity for you to learn how to explore the power of wind with your students!

In this workshop you will review energy and electricity basics, design and test blades in a wind tunnel, explore related energy education resources, and preview ready-to-use renewable energy curriculum. https://www.kidwind.org/activities

Who will benefit from this workshop? Grade 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 educators that teach alternative energies, environmental education, STEM, and Tech and Engineering.

Participants also learn about the Michigan KidWind Challenge that will take place in Spring 2025 and gain tips for coaching student teams through the process of designing and constructing small-scale turbines. Educators will leave with the resources and confidence to use renewable energy as a lens into hands-on science, technology, and engineering exploration in the classroom. You’ll also get to tour the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences if you wish!

Certificates of attendance will be provided upon request. SCHECH’s will be made available as well! (If you want SCHECH’s then please remember to provide your PIC # when you register). Workshops are open to formal and non-formal educators.
