PA KidWind Regional Competition, Penn State Hazleton

In order to attend the State competition at Penn State University Park on March 26, 2025. You must attend a regional competition and place in the top three in your division, (We reserve the right to adjust the number of qualifiers from each division due to the number of registered participating teams in attendance at each regional competition). You may choose which regional competition you want to attend. We are offering three regional competitions this year at the following locations:

• Penn State Hazleton- February 12, 2025 with a snow date on February 19, 2025
• Penn State Greater Allegheny – February 14, 2025 with a snow date on February 21, 2025
• Penn State Altoona- February 24, 2025 with a snow date on February 26, 2025.

KidWind State Competition

• Penn State University Park (HUB-Robeson Center) – March 26, 2025.

KidWind PA Regional Event Description:

• Teams will bring their pre-made design and blades and incorporate into a turbine system, including a generator, hub, and a gearbox (see KidWind rules).
• Live presentation- Teams will present a <10 min presentation to the panel of judges on the day of competition. The presentation should document the progression of their turbine design. Teams should also include a description of their design philosophy and how the team iterated on this design or made improvements to the design to increase the performance.
