Enerhack KidWind Challenge brings students together to explore wind energy through hands-on engineering. In teams of two to four, students design and build their own small wind turbine, test ideas, and learn how design choices affect its performance. An adult mentor can advise the team, but the students do the designing and building themselves.
The competition has two divisions: grades 6–9 and grades 10–12. On competition day at Tallinn University of Technology, teams test their turbines in a wind tunnel, present their design process to a panel of judges, complete a clean energy knowledge test, and tackle an Instant Challenge.
The winning team in the older division earns the opportunity to represent Estonia at the 2027 World KidWind Challenge in the United States.
