2V Solar Panel

This small, high-quality solar panel is great for demonstrations and student experiments. Attached alligator clips make the panels easy to use.

Advanced Wind Experiment Kit

Discover advanced aspects of wind turbine technology. Test different blade designs, gear ratios, generators, and devices to measure electrical and weightlifting power with dozens of materials included in this Wind Experiment Kit.

Basic Turbine Building Parts

The Basic Turbine Building Parts kit includes the KidWind Hub, a wind turbine generator, and 25 dowels, all in one package. This package is great for students who don’t want a ready-made wind turbine tower and base.

Colored Incandescent Bulbs

Contrasting LED bulbs with incandescent bulbs is a great way to show just how inefficient they are!

Colored LED Bulbs

We love to use holiday LED bulbs with solar or wind projects because you can cut the strings up easily to provide lots of loads for your students to experiment with!

Competition Wind Tunnel

This is the same wind tunnel used at KidWind Challenges around the U.S. It is easy to build and can be easily disassembled for storage.

DC Motor

Great motor to use with solar panels or turbines!

Energy Sensor

The Go Direct Energy Sensor quantifies the voltage, current, power, and energy output of small wind turbines and solar panels, such as those used in our KidWind Experiment Kits. It's what we use at competitions!

Geared Motor

These are a pair of hobby gearmotors from DAGU. These gearmotors are the same ones recommended for use in the Shadow Chassis and offer a cheap and easy-to-use setup to get your wheels turning.

Mini LED Lights

These mini LED string are great to hack in your solar structures. Cut and attach to your solar panels!

Resistor Board

The Vernier Resistor Board has seven 1 W 5% resistors mounted on a circuit board. These are important because you always want to test your turbine or solar panel under a load.

Simple Generator

The simpleGEN is an easy-to-build AC generator that allows students to explore the basics of electrical generator design.

Simple Multimeter

Simple and cheap multimeter to measure voltage and current. Check Kelvin’s website for more information on features and specifications.

Solar Fountains

Amazon has a range of solar fountains that you can modify and use for projects or experiments. We like the ones where the panel is not connected to the pump.

Solar Kits

Over at Brown Dog, they are making solar kits accessible, exciting, and affordable for youth, families, and classrooms. Products range from Dual Axis Solar Trackers to Solar USB Kits and Solar Cockroach Kits!

Solar Panels

Large variety of high-quality solar panels for use in solar structures from Kelvin. Very affordable options!

Sun Wind Solar

Our friends at SunWind Solar have some great material packs and kits for your curious students to enjoy. We particularly love their solar car kits. If you are into building these kinds of solar devices, check them out!

Teacher Geek Stuff

Many KidWind Challenge teams have found success with Teacher Geek gears. You can get quite a few for pretty cheap! There are also a large variety of kits and materials for super awesome class activities.

Vernier Light & Color Sensor

The Go Direct Light and Color Sensor is a powerful and versatile light sensor that measures light in the visible to ultraviolet electromagnetic spectrum. The sensor will help you do really cool experiments with your solar panels if you are interested in getting analytical.

Water Pump

The KidWind Low Voltage Water Pump is a great way to demonstrate power output from the wind and solar kits. It makes comparing different turbine designs easy; simply measure how high different turbines can pump water using this mini pump.
